Comphrehensive History of Database Changes
Know who changes what, when, and even why
All changes to the Epiphany database are recorded in Epiphany’s history files. At any time you can go back and see a complete history of every record addition or deletion, every relationship change, and every field that has been modified. These records are kept automatically, and include:
-
What was changed
-
Who made the change
-
What date and time was the change made
-
What computer was the change made from
The history system is even capable of tracking WHY a change was made. You can create change “reason” codes, that indicate why a changes were made. Selecting this reason code will automatically flag all future changes during your session with that “reason”. Examples of common uses of this feature include:
-
Tracking changes made to mailing list based on postal corrections received from the post office.
-
Indicating changes that were made to the General Ledger as a result of an accountant’s audit.
-
Corrections made to inventory quantities due to an annual physical inventory.
History tracking is particularly useful in determining who changed a record when the record looks incorrect. Knowing who made the change sometime makes a huge difference in determining if you trust the new data, and also makes it easy to know who to ask when you see something that doesn’t look right.
